In August 1943, a group of enterprising young women came together to form the Kapol Mahila Mandal. Their major project commenced on 5th July 1948 with the formation of the Sanskar Balmandir - a Gujarati medium school for the less privileged. In a time when most schools were increasingly out of reach for the lower economic strata, Sanskar Balmandir entered with a new philosophy toward education - that of providing quality education to the children of the poor.

Having commenced with just 7 students, the increasing popularity of the school in the subsequent years led to the extension of the Nursery school up to the Primary level (class four) in 1975. The demands of growing modernization in the country soon made it clear that the children needed to be taught more than just the vernacular language. This ideology facilitated the opening of an English medium section at “Sanskar Bhavan” at Khadilkar Road, in 1981. This section was officially named the ‘Vacchabhai Parekh Nursery School’ with both playgroup as well as nursery classes. In 1996, a subsidised English medium section was started in Madhavbaug which today provides about 150 deserving children an equal opportunity to find their place in the global world. In 2007 as the Sanskar Bhavan premises could not house the burgeoning student numbers, classes were shifted to a rented municipal building "Earth Pride". In the same year, the English Primary section was started at Earth Pride which today has classes up to standard VII. The English Secondary section is conducted at the newly refurbished Sanskar Bhavan for standards VIII to X(S.S.C.).

Besides imparting quality education, our school provides a large number of activities like art and craft, sports, yoga, music, dancing, educational trips, games and contests. Our students actively participate in, and win
inter-school competitions. In addition, our school is also well-equipped with a Computer lab, Language lab, library and play areas. Today, the school provides education to more than 1150 students in both the Gujarati and English mediums of instruction. Many deserving students are educated at a nominal fee of Rs. 20 per month. These children are also provided nutritious meals at no cost. Moreover, some of these deserving children are given a fee waiver along with free books and uniforms. Today, the school sponsors over 100 deserving students with the aid of generous donations from its regular patrons.
